Can You Solve 3 + 5 × 0 + 7? Don’t Answer Too Fast

This math puzzle looks very simple, but it can still catch people who answer too quickly.

The expression is:

3 + 5 × 0 + 7

The key is to follow the correct order of operations. Multiplication must be completed before addition.

Start with:

5 × 0 = 0

Now the expression becomes:

3 + 0 + 7

Then add the remaining numbers:

3 + 7 = 10

A common mistake is to work from left to right and add 3 + 5 first. Another mistake is thinking that the zero makes the entire expression equal zero. It does not. The zero only affects the 5 because those two numbers are being multiplied together.

Answer: 10.

Did you get 10 on your first try, or did the ×0 make you stop and think?
