What Can Break Without Falling and Fall Without Breaking? Riddle Answer

This classic riddle asks: what can break without falling, and fall without breaking?

The answer is day and night.

Day can “break” when morning arrives, which is where the phrase “daybreak” comes from. Nothing physically falls when that happens.

Night, on the other hand, can “fall” as darkness arrives. But night does not literally break when it falls.

The riddle works by using two common expressions in a literal-sounding way: day breaks and night falls. Once you recognize those familiar phrases, the answer becomes clear.

It is a classic example of wordplay built around everyday language.
