40 ÷ 2 + 5: Can You Get the Right Answer?

This one is simple if you follow the order of operations.

The expression is:

40 ÷ 2 + 5

Division comes before addition:

40 ÷ 2 = 20

Then:

20 + 5 = 25

Answer: 25.

A common mistake is to combine 2 + 5 first, but there are no parentheses telling you to do that. Following the normal rules gives 25.
