While walking through an orchard, he noticed clusters of smooth, pure white oval fruits hanging from the branches. They looked nothing like anything he had seen before — almost like eggs growing on a tree.
Curious, he picked some and did some research. These turned out to be White Sapote, also known as “custard apple of the tropics.” Inside the thin skin is a creamy, sweet, vanilla-like flesh that tastes like a mix of banana, pear, and peach. Many people call it the “ice cream fruit” because of its pudding-like texture.
