Those little specks, threads, or cobwebs drifting in your vision are called eye floaters. They’re very common and usually harmless, caused by tiny clumps in the gel inside your eye as you age.
However, if you suddenly notice a big increase in floaters, especially with flashes of light or a shadow/curtain in your vision, it could signal a serious problem like a retinal tear or detachment.
Eye doctors recommend getting checked immediately in those cases, as early treatment can prevent vision loss.
For most people, floaters are just a normal part of aging and don’t need treatment.
