Which Ball Hits the Ground First? Viral Physics Riddle Explained

This classic riddle shows two balls hanging from a bar: Ball A (blue) on a spring and Ball B (red) on a straight string. Scissors cut both supports at the exact same moment.

Most people think one will fall faster, but the correct answer is both balls hit the ground at the same time.

Once the supports are cut, gravity pulls both balls downward at the same rate. The spring on Ball A doesn’t make it fall slower — it simply uncoils while the ball drops normally.

It’s a great example of how gravity affects all objects equally, regardless of what they’re attached to.
