The Secret Signal Dogs Use That Most Owners Miss

One of the most common signals dogs use that owners often overlook is lip licking (or tongue flicking). While it can happen after eating, frequent lip licking in other situations is often a sign of stress, anxiety, or discomfort.

Dogs use this subtle signal to communicate that they are feeling uneasy or need space. Other similar signals include yawning when not tired or turning their head away. Learning to recognize these helps you better understand your dog’s emotions and respond appropriately.
