Burt Ward, best known for playing Robin in the classic 1960s Batman TV series, used his fame for something truly heroic after the show ended. Along with his wife, he founded Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoption, a sanctuary dedicated to saving and rehoming thousands of dogs — many of them large breeds that are often overlooked.
Their dedication has given countless dogs a second chance at life and a loving home. Ward’s work shows that true heroes don’t just wear capes on screen — they also show up for animals in need.
