This cat-counting puzzle contains more cats than it first appears to show.
Count each group carefully from left to right:
Top row: 3 + 1 + 1 = 5 cats
Middle row: 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 cats
Bottom row: 1 + 1 + 2 = 4 cats
Now add them together:
5 + 6 + 4 = 15
The correct answer is 15 cats.
Many people answer nine because they count only the nine main positions and overlook the smaller cats hiding beside or behind the larger ones.
