This duck-counting puzzle contains more birds than the nine large ducks most people notice first.
Count each row carefully:
Top row: 1 + 1 + 2 = 4 ducks
Middle row: 1 + 2 + 1 = 4 ducks
Bottom row: 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 ducks
Now add them together:
4 + 4 + 4 = 12
The correct answer is 12 ducks.
Many people answer nine because they count only the main positions and overlook the smaller ducks hidden beside or in front of the larger birds.
