This delightful picture puzzle has been making the rounds on social media, and it is a wonderful test of your observation skills! At first glance, it just looks like a wonderful collection of adorable cats and kittens.
The image asks a very simple question: “How many cats do you see?”
What makes this counting challenge so tricky is how the felines are grouped together. There are nine different clusters of cats, but they contain different numbers in varying sizes. Some of the tiny kittens are huddled together in baskets or hiding behind larger cats, making it incredibly easy for your eyes to skip right over them!
To get the right answer, you have to look closely and count each group very carefully. If we go row by row, the top row has 6 cats total, including a busy basket full of little ones. The middle row has 4 cats, with a pair of sweet black kittens and a kitty peeking from a woven house. Finally, the bottom row has 4 cats, finishing off with a mix of playful felines.
When you add all of those rows up, you find the total number of cats.
Answer: 14.
