Can You Solve 1 + 1 × 0 + 2? Don’t Answer Too Fast

This quick math puzzle looks simple, but the ×0 can easily make people rush into the wrong answer.

The expression is:

1 + 1 × 0 + 2

To solve it correctly, follow the standard order of operations. Multiplication comes before addition.

Start with:

1 × 0 = 0

Now the expression becomes:

1 + 0 + 2

Then complete the remaining addition:

1 + 2 = 3

So the correct answer is:

3

A common mistake is to work from left to right and add the first two numbers before doing the multiplication. Others see the ×0 and assume everything becomes zero, but only the 1 directly multiplied by zero disappears.

Answer: 3.

Did you get it right on your first try?
