This hidden-cat picture puzzle looks simple at first. Nine large cats are easy to spot, arranged in three rows, but the little faces tucked between them make the real counting challenge much more interesting.
How many cats can you find?
Look carefully around the large orange cat on the upper left, behind the black-and-white cat near the upper right, behind the white cat in the middle row, and beside the flowerpot at the lower right. Some kittens are only partly visible.
The answer to the hidden-cat puzzle
A close count appears to reveal 13 cats: nine large cats and four smaller, partially hidden kittens. Although the image’s headline says 12, there appear to be four hidden faces rather than three. That makes this a particularly tricky visual puzzle—and a useful reminder to count every clearly visible animal, not just the most obvious ones.
If you came up with 12, take another look at the edges of the image. If you found 13, see whether you can point to all four tiny kittens. The fun is in checking the details and comparing what you noticed.
