Here’s a familiar riddle that might make you think of something in the kitchen, a tool, or even a toy: What has a thumb and four fingers but can’t hold anything?
Think About What the Words Mean
The trick is that the words “thumb” and “fingers” do not necessarily refer to a living hand. An ordinary object can be shaped to fit each finger without being able to pick anything up on its own.
The Answer
A glove. It has a separate place for your thumb and four fingers, but a glove by itself cannot grip or hold an object. Once you hear it, the answer seems obvious!
