What Has an Eye but Can’t See? Can You Solve This Classic Riddle?

This classic riddle sounds like it must be describing a person or animal:

“What has an eye but can’t see?”

The trick is that the word “eye” doesn’t always refer to something used for vision.

Think about a small everyday object that has an opening called an eye. Thread is passed through this opening so the object can be used for sewing, but it obviously cannot see anything.

Once you think beyond a real eye, the answer becomes much easier.

Answer: A needle.
