This August 25th, challenge yourself with an adorable picture puzzle that has been making the rounds on social media! It is a fantastic test of observation skills, and at first glance, it just looks like a beautiful group of capybaras hanging out in the grass.
The file, image_27.png, asks a very simple question: “How many capybaras do you see?”
What makes this counting challenge so tricky is how some of the tiny babies are perfectly camouflaged among the rocks, the tall green grass, and the brown fur of the larger animals. There are a few large capybaras sitting and standing prominently, but a handful of sneaky little ones are tucked away. It is incredibly easy to focus only on the big, prominent faces and completely skip over the hidden ones!
To get the right answer, you have to look closely and check every space carefully. Let’s count them up! There are 5 main capybaras taking up most of the attention (1 standing tall on the top left, 1 huge one sitting right in the center, 1 standing on the top right, 1 sitting on the middle right, and 1 resting comfortably on the bottom right).
Now for the smaller ones: there is 1 capybara sitting in the grass on the middle left, 1 tiny face resting its chin on a rock in the bottom left corner, 1 small capybara standing just below the center, 1 peeking out from the tall green grass just behind the center capybara, and 1 adorable baby tucked safely under the chest of the capybara on the middle right.
When you add the 5 main capybaras and the 5 smaller ones together, you find the entire adorable herd.
Answer: 10.
