It was nearly midnight when a driver was traveling along a remote desert highway.
The road was empty, the sky full of stars, and there were no towns nearby for miles.
Suddenly, something appeared in the headlights.
A dog.
The animal was running straight down the center of the road toward the approaching car.
The driver immediately slowed down, worried the dog might run directly into the vehicle.
But instead of moving away, the dog stopped a few meters in front of the car.
Then it turned and ran toward the side of the road.
Curious, the driver stepped out of the car.
The dog looked back repeatedly, as if urging him to follow.
Trusting his instinct, the driver walked after the dog into the darkness beside the highway.
Only a short distance from the road, he discovered something alarming.
A small car had crashed into a ditch, nearly invisible from the highway.
Inside was an injured driver who had been trapped there for hours.
The dog belonged to the injured man.
After the crash, the loyal animal had run to the road and waited for a passing vehicle.
When the driver finally stopped, the dog led him directly to the accident.
Emergency services arrived soon after.
And doctors later said the help had arrived just in time.
