This bird-counting puzzle looks like it contains only nine cockatoos, but several smaller birds are hidden inside the larger drawings.
Count each group carefully from left to right:
Top row: 1 + 4 + 1 = 6 birds
Middle row: 3 + 4 + 4 = 11 birds
Bottom row: 1 + 3 + 1 = 5 birds
Now add them together:
6 + 11 + 5 = 22
The correct answer is 22 cockatoos.
Many people answer nine because they count only the main groups. The smaller birds tucked inside several larger cockatoos make this puzzle much trickier than it first appears.
