Two Fathers and Two Sons Caught 3 Fish — How Is That Possible?

This riddle sounds impossible at first:

“Two fathers and two sons caught 3 fish. Each got one. How is that possible?”

The trick is that there are only three people.

They are a grandfather, his son, and his grandson. The grandfather is a father, the middle man is both a father and a son, and the youngest is a son.

That gives us two fathers and two sons, even though only three people went fishing.

Answer: They were a grandfather, father, and son.
