What Is Easy to Get Into but Hard to Get Out Of? Riddle Answer

This classic riddle asks: What is easy to get into but hard to get out of? It sounds as though the answer might be a place, but the clue is really about a situation.

The answer is: trouble.

Getting into trouble can happen quickly through one bad decision, a misunderstanding, or a careless mistake. Getting out of trouble is often much harder because you may need time, effort, an explanation, or a way to repair what went wrong.

The riddle works because we commonly use the phrases “get into trouble” and “get out of trouble.” The wording makes the answer sound physical at first, but it is really built around those familiar expressions. Once you think of them, the solution fits immediately.
