4 Cars Reach a 4-Way Stop at the Same Time — How Do They Avoid Crashing?

This traffic riddle says four cars reach a four-way stop at exactly the same time. All four cars go, yet nobody crashes. How is that possible?

The answer is that all four cars turn right.

Each car can make a right turn into the lane immediately beside it without crossing through the center of the intersection. If all four drivers turn right at the same time, their paths do not intersect.

The puzzle sounds impossible because “all four go” makes you picture every car driving straight through the middle of the intersection. But the clue never says they go straight.

Once you consider turning instead of crossing, the situation becomes possible. It is a simple logic puzzle that depends on questioning the assumption that moving through an intersection always means driving straight ahead.
