At first glance, this picture looks like a neat arrangement of nine baby porcupines. But look again: some much smaller faces are tucked among the quills and paws.
Try the baby porcupine counting challenge
Scan the picture slowly from left to right. Remember to look behind the large animals and between neighboring bodies. The tiniest porcupines are the easiest to overlook, especially when their brown fur blends into the quills.
Count each animal only once before comparing your total with a friend or family member. Did you find more than nine?
Answer
There are 13 baby porcupines in the picture: nine prominent ones and four smaller hidden ones.
If you missed one on your first try, return to the image and check the spaces beside the larger porcupines. Sometimes a second glance makes all the difference.
