In December 2013, Cecil Williams, a blind man from New York, lost consciousness and fell onto the subway tracks at a Manhattan station. His devoted guide dog, Orlando, didn’t hesitate — he immediately jumped down after his owner.
Orlando stayed by Cecil’s side, licking his face and barking to alert others. Thanks to the dog’s quick actions and the train slowing down just in time, both Cecil and Orlando survived the terrifying ordeal with only minor injuries.
Their story touched millions and highlighted the incredible bond and bravery of guide dogs. Orlando proved once again why these animals are true heroes.
