Do You Recognize This Vintage Kitchen Tool?

This old-fashioned kitchen utensil is a manual rotary egg beater, once commonly used before electric mixers became standard household appliances.

To use it, the two metal beaters were placed inside a bowl while one hand held the wooden top handle. Turning the smaller side crank activated the gears, causing both beaters to spin rapidly.

It was commonly used for:

  • Beating eggs
  • Whipping cream
  • Mixing cake batter
  • Preparing sauces and desserts
  • Blending light ingredients

The geared mechanism made mixing much faster and easier than using a fork or ordinary whisk.

The correct answer is a hand-crank rotary egg beater, also called a manual kitchen mixer.
