When 12-year-old Alex noticed how many kids in his neighborhood didn’t have easy access to books, he decided to do something about it.
With help from his parents, he built a Little Free Library and painted it in bright rainbow stripes. He added stickers, hearts, and a big sign that says “Take a Book • Leave a Book.”
He placed it proudly on the grass in front of his house so everyone walking by could see it.
But the most special part is what Alex wrote on the side in colorful letters:
“Take a book. Leave a book. Share a story. Be kind.”
His mom says she cried when she first saw the finished library. “He didn’t just build a box for books — he built a little piece of community and kindness right on our street.”
Now every day after school, kids stop by on their bikes or on foot. They excitedly open the door, choose a book, and sometimes leave one they’ve finished. Alex checks on it every evening and restocks it when needed.
The Little Free Library has already brought neighbors together — parents chat while kids trade books, and strangers smile and wave as they pass by.
Alex says with a big grin, “I wanted to make something that makes people happy. Books are magic, and now everyone can share that magic.” ❤️
This story is a beautiful reminder that even at a young age, one child can spread kindness and create something wonderful for their whole community.
