Actress Tippi Hedren, best known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, became a passionate advocate for big cats. In 1983, she founded the Roar Foundation and created the Shambala Preserve in Acton, California — a sanctuary that provides a safe home for lions, tigers, leopards, and other big cats that have been abused, abandoned, or retired from the entertainment industry.
Hedren has dedicated decades of her life to protecting these majestic animals and raising awareness about the dangers of keeping big cats as pets.
