This August 24th, challenge yourself with an adorable picture puzzle that has been making the rounds on social media! It is a fantastic test of observation skills, and at first glance, it just looks like a beautiful group of cartoon red pandas.
The image asks a very simple question: “How many red pandas can you find?”
What makes this counting challenge so tricky is how some of the tiny babies are perfectly camouflaged among the bright reddish-brown fur and bushy striped tails of the larger animals. There are nine large red pandas sitting front and center, but a handful of sneaky little ones are tucked away. It is incredibly easy for older eyes to focus only on the big, prominent faces and completely skip over the hidden ones!
To get the right answer, you have to look closely and check every space carefully. Let’s count them up! There are 9 large red pandas taking up most of the space (arranged neatly in three rows of three).
Now for the hidden ones: in the top row, there is 1 tiny baby nestled safely inside the curled tail of the center panda. In the middle row, there is 1 little face peeking out from the tail of the panda on the left, and 1 more tucked snugly in the tail of the panda on the right. In the bottom row, there is 1 baby hiding behind the log next to the panda on the far left, 1 peeking out from under the belly of the center panda, and 1 resting right on the lap of the panda on the far right.
When you add the 9 large pandas and the 6 hidden babies together, you find the entire adorable family.
Answer: 15.
