This colorful dragonfly counting puzzle looks easy at first, but several of the insects are small enough to blend into the reeds, flowers, and distant background.
The best way to solve it is to scan the picture slowly from top to bottom.
Start near the sky and cattails, where several larger dragonflies are easy to spot. Then check the distant trees and the wooden dock, where a couple of much smaller ones can be overlooked.
Continue down toward the water and tall grasses. More dragonflies are hovering near the pond, while another is tucked among the reeds on the left.
Finally, inspect the rock and yellow flowers near the bottom. A few brightly colored dragonflies are hiding there too, including one that is especially easy to miss near the lower-right edge.
Count every separate dragonfly carefully.
Answer: There are 12 dragonflies in the picture.
Did you find all 12 on your first try?
