A Clock Takes 5 Seconds to Strike 6 Times — How Long for 12 Strikes?

This clock puzzle is about the time between strikes, not simply doubling the total time.

If a clock strikes 6 times, there are only 5 intervals between those strikes. If those 5 intervals take 5 seconds, each interval lasts 1 second.

To strike 12 times, there are 11 intervals.

Answer: 11 seconds.

The common mistake is to double 5 seconds and say 10. But the number of gaps between strikes is always one less than the number of strikes.
