At first glance, this adorable puppy picture looks like a neat three-by-three arrangement of playful dogs. But look carefully between the front paws and around the edges: several smaller puppies are peeking through.
How many puppies are there?
The intended answer is 13 puppies. There are nine larger puppies and four smaller, partly hidden puppies.
Where to look for the hidden puppies
Start at the top-left golden puppy and look behind its side. Then check between the paws of the dark puppy in the top-center position. Scan near the right edge of the middle row for another small face. Finally, look near the lower-center area, where a little puppy appears beside the larger dogs.
To count accurately, begin with the prominent nine, then search systematically for little faces between the big puppies. A complete puppy doesn’t have to be visible to count; even a clearly visible head reveals an extra animal.
