This fox counting picture looks easy at first glance: three foxes near the top, three across the middle, and three toward the bottom. But there are more foxes hiding in the woodland scene than the obvious nine.
How many foxes are really here?
The intended answer is 12 foxes. Start with the nine main foxes, then find the three smaller ones partly concealed behind their companions and the fluffy tails.
Where are the hidden foxes?
First look near the upper-right fox, where a small fox’s face peeks out behind its tail. Next, inspect the left side of the middle row, where another little fox appears just behind the curled fox. Finally, look closely at the sleeping foxes near the bottom middle, where an extra small face is tucked into the orange fur.
These hidden-animal puzzles play on how our eyes pick up the large, central objects and skip smaller details. The best approach is to count all the prominent animals and then make a second pass around the edges, ears, paws, and tails.
