How Many Baby Seals Can You See? Count Every Row

White, gray, and brown baby seals fill this cute counting puzzle. Their round faces and similar poses make the picture look simple, but counting quickly can lead to mistakes. Can you find every seal?

Look closely at each row

The best way to approach the challenge is to avoid jumping around the image. Start with the top row and count across from left to right, then do the same with the middle and bottom rows.

Notice that not all three rows contain the same number of animals. That difference is an easy detail to overlook if you assume the entire illustration forms a perfect rectangle.

How many baby seals are pictured?

The answer is 14 baby seals. Five seals appear in the top row, four in the middle row, and five in the bottom row. Add them together: 5 + 4 + 5 = 14.

Even though the little seals have different colors, each one has a complete face and body visible. Count each animal once rather than counting whiskers, paws, or patches of color.

Why counting games can be tricky

Our eyes naturally look for patterns. When the first row has five objects, it’s tempting to expect five in every row. This puzzle is a reminder that careful observation beats assumptions.

Did you get 14 immediately, or did you have to count a second time? Show this picture to a friend and ask for their first answer before revealing the solution.
