It was a stormy autumn night when two stray cats appeared on our front porch.

One was a sleek black cat with bright green eyes. The other was a fluffy white cat with soft gray patches. They were both wet, hungry, and clearly had been living rough for a while.

We put out food and water, but they hissed and growled at each other from opposite sides of the porch. We figured they would never become friends, so we fed them separately and prepared two different cozy spots.

Weeks went by. They tolerated each other but never got close.

Then one particularly cold evening, we walked into the living room to check on them… and stopped in our tracks.

The black cat and the white cat were curled up together in the large pet bed, fast asleep. The black cat had one paw gently draped over the white cat’s back, and they were sharing the same blanket.

From that night on, they became inseparable. They eat together, play together, and sleep curled up every single night.

We named them Shadow and Snow.

Two lonely strays who had nothing in common found comfort and friendship in each other. They taught us that sometimes the best family is the one you choose. ❤️
