How Many Border Collies Are Hiding Here? This Tricky Picture Puzzle Tests Your Eyes

This August 24th, challenge yourself with an adorable picture puzzle that has been making the rounds on social media! It is a fantastic test of observation skills, and at first glance, it just looks like a beautiful group of cartoon Border Collies.

The image asks a very simple question: “How many Border Collies are hiding here?”

What makes this counting challenge so tricky is how some of the tiny pups are perfectly camouflaged by the striking black and white fur of the larger dogs. There are six large Border Collies sitting front and center, but a handful of sneaky puppies are tucked away. It is incredibly easy for older eyes to focus only on the big, prominent faces and completely skip over the hidden ones!

To get the right answer, you have to look closely and check every space carefully. Let’s count them up! There are 6 large Border Collies taking up most of the space (3 sitting in the top row, and 3 resting in the bottom row).

Now for the hidden ones: in the top row, there is 1 tiny pup standing between the front legs of the dog on the left, 1 peeking out from behind the center dog, and 1 sitting beside the dog on the right. In the bottom row, there is 1 puppy nestled between the paws of the dog on the far left, 1 resting between the paws of the center dog, and 1 more peeking out from behind the dog on the far right.

When you add the 6 large dogs and the 6 hidden puppies together, you find the entire adorable family.

Answer: 12.
