Can You Solve This Viral Math Riddle? The Answer Is NOT 92!

Challenge yourself with a handwritten math equation from image_22.png that has been causing a massive debate on social media! It comes with a strict warning right at the top that the answer is not 92, yet it is still defeating a surprising number of adults today.

The image demands you solve: 100 minus 10 divided by half plus 6.

The reason this puzzle trips people up is a sneaky wording trick combined with the order of operations. Many people read “divided by half” and mistakenly divide by 2 (which would give 5). Others just calculate straight from left to right.

To get the absolute correct answer, you must tackle the division section first. You need to divide 10 by one-half (0.5). Mathematically, dividing a number by a half is the exact same as multiplying it by 2. Therefore, 10 ÷ 0.5 simply gives you 20.

When you insert that 20 back into the problem, the equation becomes perfectly clear: 100 – 20 + 6.

Now you are permitted to calculate the remaining numbers from left to right. 100 minus 20 is 80, and adding the final 6 brings you strictly to your solution.

Answer: 86.
