How Many Nectarines Do You See? This Counting Puzzle Is Easy to Miscount

This nectarine counting puzzle looks straightforward, but the different-sized groups make it surprisingly easy to skip a fruit or count one twice.

The best way to solve it is to work through the picture section by section.

At the top left, there are 3 nectarines. The top-right group also contains 3.

In the center of the image, there are 4 nectarines grouped together.

Now look at the bottom. The group on the left contains 3 nectarines, while the group on the right contains 4.

Add all five groups together:

3 + 3 + 4 + 3 + 4 = 17

The smaller nectarines tucked beside the larger fruits are the ones most likely to throw off your count.

Answer: There are 17 nectarines in the picture.

Did you count all 17 on your first try?
