This short riddle asks: What has a door but no house?
A common answer is: an oven.
An oven has a door that opens and closes, but it is obviously not a house. The door lets you place food inside and keeps heat contained while cooking.
The riddle works because the word “door” immediately makes most people think of a room or building. But plenty of everyday objects have doors too.
Depending on the version of the riddle, other answers such as a car can also fit. But an oven is one of the most common intended answers because its door is such a familiar feature.
