This familiar riddle asks:
“What can follow you everywhere but never pass you?”
The answer is your shadow. When light shines on you, your body blocks part of it and creates a shadow. As you move, the shadow moves with you, appearing to follow your motion.
It may stretch, shrink, or change direction depending on the light source, but it does not behave like another person trying to overtake you.
Answer: Your shadow.
The riddle is effective because “follow you everywhere” makes you think of a person, animal, or object. The answer is something that can be with you constantly without being a separate moving thing.
Did you solve this one immediately, or did it take a second?
