This adorable counting puzzle shows a fluffy group of baby koalas. The headline says most people count nine, but asks whether there are more hiding in the picture.
Can you spot the hidden koalas?
Nine large koalas are arranged prominently in the picture. Yet little faces appear beside and between them, making the final number harder to spot than it seems.
To avoid missing any, begin with the top-left corner. Look for a tiny koala face behind the first large animal. Continue across the top row and check the right edge. Then examine the spaces in the middle and near the bottom row for more small koalas tucked among the fluffy bodies.
What’s the intended count?
The image is designed to include 13 baby koalas: nine prominent animals and four smaller hidden koalas. Count distinct faces, not just full bodies, because some of the smallest koalas are only partly visible.
Why these puzzles are tricky
When a group of animals has the same color and texture, our eyes naturally focus on the large faces. Smaller faces blend into the surrounding fur. Working slowly, row by row, makes a big difference.
How many did you see the first time?
