This pomegranate counting puzzle looks simple at first, but the different group sizes make it surprisingly easy to lose track.
The best way to solve it is to count each group one at a time.
Top row: 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 pomegranates.
Middle row: 4 + 1 + 2 = 7 pomegranates.
Bottom row: 3 + 4 + 1 = 8 pomegranates.
Now add the three row totals together:
6 + 7 + 8 = 21.
The trick is to pay close attention to the larger clusters, especially the groups containing three or four fruits. Overlapping pomegranates can make it easy to accidentally skip one or count the same fruit twice.
Answer: There are 21 pomegranates in the picture.
Did you count all 21 on your first try, or did one of the clusters throw you off?
