How Many Cats Can You See? Most People Count Wrong!

Take a careful look at this cheerful collection of cats. They come in different coats and colors, from fluffy orange and white cats to tabbies, black cats and a Siamese. The simple question is: how many cats can you see?

A good way to avoid double-counting is to scan the picture from left to right, one row at a time, and count each animal only once. Can you get the answer before reading on?

Answer and explanation

There are 12 cats in the picture: four in the top row, four in the middle row and four in the bottom row. That’s 4 + 4 + 4 = 12.
