What Is Easy to Get Into but Hard to Get Out Of? Riddle Answer

This classic riddle asks: What is easy to get into but hard to get out of? It sounds like the answer might be a physical place, but the clue is really describing a situation most people know well.

The answer is: trouble.

Getting into trouble can happen very quickly. One bad decision, misunderstanding, careless mistake, or impulsive action may be enough. Getting out of trouble can take much more effort because you may have to explain yourself, correct what happened, apologize, or deal with the consequences.

The riddle works because we commonly use the expressions “get into trouble” and “get out of trouble.” The wording makes the answer sound physical at first, but once you think of those familiar phrases, the solution fits perfectly.
